This Privacy Policy explains how the Memento Car Android app (“the App”) handles your information. Memento Car is designed to be local-first: your data stays on your device.
Who We Are
Memento Car is developed by Prodlabs22, S.L. (trading as Nodetech), operated from Valls, Spain.
For any privacy-related questions, contact us at [email protected].
Summary
- The App does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.
- There is no developer-owned backend — your data is never sent to our servers.
- Your cars, reminders, and reminder state are stored locally on your device.
- Version 1 of the App does not use location data.
What Data the App Stores
All of the following is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us:
- Cars you configure, including the identifier of the Bluetooth device you associate with each car.
- Reminders you create, including their text and whether they trigger on car entry or exit.
- Reminder state, such as whether a reminder has been shown or completed.
- Your Pro entitlement status, cached locally after a purchase so the App can unlock Pro features without contacting our servers.
We do not have access to any of this information.
Bluetooth
The App uses Bluetooth to detect when your phone connects to or disconnects from the car Bluetooth device you have configured. This connection status is used only on your device to decide when to show a reminder.
The App does not scan for, track, or log nearby Bluetooth devices beyond the ones you explicitly associate with a car, and it does not transmit Bluetooth information anywhere.
Microphone and Voice Input
If you use voice input to create a reminder, the App accesses your device’s microphone to convert your speech to text. Speech recognition may be handled by Android or by the speech-recognition service configured on your device. Memento Car uses the recognized text to create the reminder and does not store voice recordings or recognized commands after processing them.
Restart Recovery
The App uses the “run at startup” permission to reschedule your active reminders after your device restarts, so they keep working without you having to reopen the App. This does not involve any data leaving your device.
Purchases (Google Play Billing)
If you purchase Memento Car Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment details — Google’s own privacy policy governs that transaction. The App stores a local record of your entitlement (see above) so Pro features remain unlocked without repeated verification.
Location
Version 1 of the App does not collect or use location data.
Permissions
The App may request the following Android permissions:
- Bluetooth (nearby devices): to detect connection and disconnection with your configured car Bluetooth device.
- Notifications: to show your reminders at the right moment.
- Microphone: to convert your speech to text when you use voice input to create a reminder.
- Run at startup (boot completed): to reschedule your reminders after your device restarts.
These permissions are used solely to provide the App’s core functionality.
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or rent your data, because we do not collect it ourselves. The App does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing under Google’s own privacy policy.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you remain in control of it. You can delete individual cars or reminders within the App, and uninstalling the App removes all data it has stored on your device.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
